Syrian authorities, with the support of the Russian military, are conducting a post-war reconstruction of infrastructure in 345 settlements, with about 1,000 educational institutions and more than 250 hospitals restored since the Russian interagency coordination headquarters began its work in 2018, the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties told reporters on Wednesday.
"A total of 983 educational and 253 medical institutions, one sports school, 4,927 residential houses, 24.5 kilometers of water networks, four drinking water wells, three cultural and leisure facilities, two administrative buildings, 0.1 kilometers of sidewalk have been restored in the Syrian Arab Republic since July 18, 2018," the report said.
It is specified that for almost three years 1 457,32 kilometers of power lines have been laid, 264 objects of water supply, 323 bakeries, 820 power substations, four petrol stations and 14 453 industrial enterprises have been put into operation.
The Syrian authorities are implementing a program to restore the infrastructure of the areas affected by the fighting in Aleppo, Damascus and Hama provinces so that refugees can live in normal conditions upon their return. In its turn, the Russian Center is assisting in this work, as well as in the transportation of refugees.
