Algeria Vows to Push for an End to Gaza Genocide at the UN Security Council

28 October

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reaffirmed that the foundation for resolving the Middle East conflict remains the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital. He made this statement on Sunday in Cairo during a press conference with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

“Algeria spares no effort within the UN Security Council to put an end to the genocide being perpetrated [by Israel] against Palestinians,” Tebboune declared, as reported by Ennahar Online.

“Our stance has never changed and will never change: the only solution to the conflict is the creation of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital,” Tebboune continued.

He commended the “resilience of Gaza's residents amid a genocide carried out by Israeli occupation troops” and praised President el-Sisi’s initiative to implement a two-day ceasefire in Gaza and release several hostages.

As a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Algeria has been particularly attentive to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the situation in Lebanon.
