Ambassador: Iran hopes to continue cooperation with Russia in nuclear deal

19 December 2019

Iran expects to continue cooperation with Russia on the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei told Kommersant.

"We expect that the current Iranian-Russian cooperation in the framework of the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program-ed.), in particular, on the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, will continue and even expand", the diplomat said.
Russia, as Sanaei recalled, took an active part in the development and adoption of the JCPOA" and to this day continues to fight for the preservation of the deal".

"Moscow strongly condemned America's withdrawal from the JCPOA and supported the mechanism launched by European countries for settlements with Iran, although it does not work in practice. EU countries as a whole behave very passively. Russia was and remains Iran's most serious partner in this agreement",  the Iranian Ambassador stressed.
