Russia and Iran are actively working on preparations for another meeting in the Astana format on the Syrian settlement, which is scheduled for February in Sochi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday at a joint news conference following talks with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.
"We have checked our notes on the Syrian settlement," he said. - "The Astana format works and confirms its relevance. We talked about the preparation of the next meeting in the Astana format, which is scheduled for February this year in Sochi".
The Russian Foreign Minister said the sides "talked about the work of the draft committee of the Syrian Constitutional Committee, which had started its work the day before.
"Russia, Iran and our Turkish partners in the Astana format are accompanying these talks, and we are interested in ensuring that the talks within the framework of the constitutional committee go strictly in accordance with the agreed agenda," Lavrov stressed.
