The Armenian government on February 1 filed a lawsuit with the European Court on Human Rights (ECHR) against Azerbaijan, accusing Baku of violating conventions during the military actions in Nagorno-Karabakh and the period following the war. The office of Armenia's representative to the ECHR said this on Tuesday.
"The ECHR press service of Armenia stressed that Azerbaijan violated a number of rights of the residents of Artsakh and Armenia, particularly the right to inviolability, property, family and private life and education," it was reported.
The Strasbourg court's press service told TASS that the ECHR received a claim against Azerbaijan from the Armenian government.
"The statement of claim was received on February 1," a court spokesman said. He noted that "at the moment it is impossible to give an exact date when the court will consider the application."
The Armenian government sent a series of lawsuits to the ECHR during the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh that lasted from September to November 2020, seeking interim measures against Azerbaijan and Turkey, accusing those countries of committing acts that caused irreparable and simultaneously substantial harm to the applicant or the protected interests of citizens.
