Syrian President Bashar al-Assad sent a congratulatory telegram to Russian leader Vladimir Putin on the occasion of New Year. As SANA news agency reported on Wednesday, in his message, the Syrian head wished Russia and its people further prosperity and expressed hope for stronger cooperation between the two countries.
"President al-Assad sent his warmest and heartiest greetings to President Putin and the entire friendly Russian people, as well as his best wishes that this year will bring Russia even more success and progress in all fields. President al-Assad also expressed his hope that in the coming year, Russia and Syria would be able to achieve even more successes in the fight against terrorism through joint efforts and continue to strengthen bilateral relations in all areas for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries," the agency said in a statement.
As the Kremlin press service reported earlier on Wednesday, Putin also sent a congratulatory message to Assad, in which he expressed his hope that 2021 would bring stability to Syria, and also stressed Russia's readiness to assist in the final settlement of the Syrian crisis and overcoming its consequences.
