The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan announced 65 attacks on positions of the country's army in the area of the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as on the border with Armenia over the past day.
"Units of the Armenian armed forces, using heavy machine guns, sniper rifles and 60 mm mortars, violated the ceasefire regime 65 times during the day in various areas of the front," the Defense Ministry's press service said in a statement on Wednesday.
In particular, according to the Ministry, the positions of Azerbaijani army in villages of Agdam, Agbulaq, Munjuglu neighboring Tovuz district, as well as in the Zamanly village and on the nameless heights in the territory of Gadabay district were shelled from the territory of Berd and Chambarak regions of Armenia.
Baku also reports on the shelling of Azerbaijani armed forces positions from the territory of settlements adjacent to Nagorno-Karabakh that are under the control of the Armenian armed forces.
In turn, the press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry Shushan Stepanyan said that the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on Wednesday night was relatively calm.
"On the night of July 29, as at the moment, there is a relative calm on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The enemy violated the ceasefire 22 times in various parts of the border, firing 497 shots at Armenian positions, " she wrote on her Facebook page.
The situation on the border of the two states escalated on July 12. Azerbaijan declared an attempt by the Armenian armed forces to attack the positions of the Republic's army using artillery, while Yerevan called the attempt to break through from the Azerbaijani side the reason for the aggravation. Both sides reported on the dead soldiers. According to both sides, the situation has been relatively calm since July 17, but reports of shelling near the border and the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh have been received almost daily.
