The Orthodox of Dagestan, Chechnya and Ingushetia were urged not to visit churches on Easter. The corresponding announcement to the believers of the Archbishop of Makhachkala and Grozny Varlaam was published on Instagram.

“Orthodox residents of the Republic of Dagestan, the Chechen Republic and the Republic of Ingushetia. For the sake of pastoral care for the life and health of people, and also in response to a request from the republic’s sanitary authorities, with heartache I urge Orthodox Christians to refrain from visiting the temples of the Makhachkala diocese and stay in homes, making home prayers and participating in divine services through live broadcasts ", the message reads.

Starting from April 15, divine services within the Makhachkala diocese, as noted, will be "temporarily held only with the participation of clergy, as well as parish staff and volunteers whose presence is necessary."

From April 1, the authorities of Dagestan due to the coronavirus pandemic imposed restrictions on movement for residents of the republic. After that, the Mufti of Dagestan called on Muslims of the region to suspend visits to mosques and perform all prayers at home, including Friday Juma prayer (collective prayer).
