Berdimuhamedov: Russia's Relations with the Islamic World Are on the Rise

16 May

Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov spoke at the plenary session of the Group of Strategic Vision  "Russia - Islamic World," currently taking place as part of the 15th International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum-2024."

"Today, Russia's relations with the Islamic world are on the rise. They are gaining a unique momentum, clearer directions, and growing potential. This is a natural and objective process rooted in the deep historical experience of geographical proximity, mutual cultural and spiritual penetration, and enrichment. For centuries, Russia and the countries of the Islamic world have been creating a civilization that unites East and West, from the Pacific to the Atlantic. These unique relationships are based on mutual respect, tolerance, and recognition of each other's interests. This historical experience is gaining renewed significance and necessity. In this context, Russia and Islamic countries demonstrate how to build relationships between states and peoples: with respect, equality, and an understanding of each other's needs and requirements. This is our strength, advantage, and future," Berdimuhamedov noted, emphasizing that Russia and Islamic countries are called to showcase modern models of cooperation while adhering to traditional values, peace, and social justice. There is a vast field for joint activity here, Berdimuhamedov added.
