Joe Biden officially accepted the nomination for President from the Democratic party of the United States.
"I am proud to be a Democrat and I am honored to accept this nomination for President of the United States," Biden said during the virtual democratic meeting.
The politician promised that during his presidency, the US will overcome the "era of darkness". "Give light and people will find the way. These words also apply to our time. The current President has plunged America into darkness for a long time. Too much aggression, fear, division. Here and now I give you my word: if you trust me to be President, I will extract only the good from us, not the bad, I will be an ally of light, not darkness," he said.
Biden also said that he would not tolerate "Russian awards for the heads of American soldiers," referring to US media claims that Russian intelligence allegedly offered rewards to Taliban-linked militants for attacks on the US military in Afghanistan. The Russian side denied these claims, and the current US President, Donald Trump, called them untrustworthy.
Presidential elections will be held in the United States on November 3. From the Republicans, the current head of state, Donald Trump, will participate in them.
The latest polls indicate Biden's leadership. In particular, a poll conducted by NBC and the Wall Street Journal showed a gap of nine percent in his favor. The study was conducted from August 9 to 12 among 900 registered voters.
