In discussions initiated by the Palestinian side, Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, held talks with Azzam al-Ahmad, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Fatah Central Committee, and Mousa Abu-Marzouk, deputy chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau.
"The talks primarily centered on the pressing issues surrounding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, particularly focusing on the deepening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip," the Russian MFA informed.
Furthermore, Bogdanov discussed preparations for the inter-Palestinian meeting in Moscow directly with representatives from Fatah and Hamas. "Extensive discussions were held on the organization and logistics of the upcoming inter-Palestinian meeting, slated for late February to early March in Moscow, hosted at the premises of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences," elaborated the ministry.
Bogdanov reiterated Russia's stance on supporting Palestinian unity under the PLO platform during his conversations with Fatah and Hamas. "The Russian side reaffirmed its steadfast support for Palestinian unity under the political framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization," the ministry reported.
