Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov held discussions with Jordanian Ambassador to Moscow Khaled Shawabkeh. They focused on the evolving situation in and around the Gaza Strip, with an emphasis on the necessity to coordinate international efforts to secure a ceasefire and provide humanitarian assistance to the population.
"During a confidential exchange of views on the current Middle East agenda, the parties primarily discussed the evolving situation in and around the Gaza Strip. They also underscored the importance of rallying international efforts to facilitate a prompt ceasefire and provide humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population in the enclave," stated the Russian Foreign Ministry in an official statement.
The Russian Foreign Ministry highlighted that the discussion also encompassed matters related to enhancing the long-standing, amicable relations between Russia and Jordan. This includes sustaining a robust political dialogue on international subjects of shared concern.
The meeting was arranged at the request of the Jordanian diplomat.
