Bogdanov Announces Russia's Plan to Hold Annual Ministerial Conferences with Africa

28 November 2023

The Russian government anticipates hosting ministerial conferences with African nations annually in the periods between Russia-Africa summits. This statement was made by the Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and African countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, during the Primakov Readings forum.

"As part of the ongoing efforts to coordinate actions and streamline communication with the continent, a new dialogue format has been introduced - the Russia-Africa ministerial conferences. These conferences will be held regularly, with the intention of organizing them annually between the agreed-upon triennial summits," stated the deputy minister.

According to him, this format will serve as "the most crucial tool to ease the transition from the outlined program guidelines to the realization of tangible results." "And, of course, our practical action plans, formulated after the first summit and now reiterated after the second, play a crucial role in this regard," added Bogdanov.

The second Russia-Africa summit occurred at the Expoforum in St. Petersburg on July 27-28, accompanied by an economic and humanitarian forum. These events were organized by the Roscongress Foundation, with TASS serving as a photo host agency and media partner. Additionally, TASS organized the Second Russia-Africa Media Forum.

The IX International Scientific and Expert Forum, "Primakov Readings," is taking place on November 27-28 in Moscow, focusing on the theme "Post-Globalization Horizons."
