Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov stated that he conducted a meeting with the political leadership of the Palestinian Hamas movement in Qatar. During the meeting, they discussed the fate of the hostages currently being held.
"Of course, [I met] with the political leadership," he said when asked by reporters about holding a meeting with Hamas representatives and discussing the fate of the hostages.
According to the latest information, Hamas supporters are holding at least 224 hostages in Gaza. The Russian embassy in Israel reports that there are at least three Russian citizens among them, who also hold Israeli citizenship. On Monday, Israeli authorities confirmed the release of two hostages - they were Israeli women who were kidnapped on October 7 from their homes in Kibbutz Nir Oz on the border with the Gaza Strip.
