Leaders of the Central Asian states and representatives of the European Union will meet in Cholpon-Ata to discuss the development of economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation as well as cooperation in the field of digitalization. This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubayev, commenting on the agenda of the Central Asia-EU forum.
"The European Union considers Central Asia a region worth attention," he said. Including in the direction of complementarity of economies. In total, according to the minister, there are four main directions on the agenda of the meeting.
"The first issue is how we will develop trade between the European Union and Central Asia, as currently some transport corridors are closed, the parties are looking for different ways to expand trade and economic cooperation," the foreign minister said. The second topic is the climate agenda.
"The third area is digitalization. The EU is ready to help Central Asia with digitalization in various areas of economy, including trade and transport logistics," Kulubayev assured. The fourth topic, he concluded, is interaction in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Deputy Chairman of Turkmenistan Cabinet of Ministers Nurmukhammet Amannepesov and European Council President Charles Michel are participating in the second Central Asia-EU meeting. The first meeting in this format took place last October in Kazakhstan.
