Central Asian leaders ready to help achieve peace in Afghanistan

Presidents of Central Asian countries expressed readiness to render assistance in achieving the quickest possible civil peace in Afghanistan. This is said in a joint statement on the results of the consultative meeting of the heads of Central Asian states held in Turkmenistan.



"The sides confirm that the soonest resolution of the situation in neighboring Afghanistan is one of the most important factors of preserving and strengthening security and stability in Central Asia. In this connection, the parties have expressed readiness to provide all possible assistance in the soonest achievement of civil peace and harmony in Afghan society," the press service of the Kazakh president said in a statement released on Friday. 




At the same time, the parties support the efforts of all interested states and international organizations to ensure security and stability in Afghanistan, to restore the country's socio-economic infrastructure and its involvement in world economic ties.
 


"The parties expressed support for the elaboration of the issue of creating a dialogue on security and cooperation in Central Asia as a permanent consultative platform for considering topical issues of regional development on a systematic and regular basis," the statement reads.



Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov of Turkmenistan and Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan took part in the consultative meeting of heads of Central Asian states.
