The Republic of Chad expects to train its peacekeepers in Russia, but the invitation of Russian military instructors to the country was not discussed at meetings in Moscow, Chadian Foreign Minister Mahamat Zene Cherif told RIA Novosti after talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

"The kind of training that Mr. Lavrov talked about at the press conference is peacekeeping training in UN operations. You know that Chad is a country that takes part in these operations, in particular in MINUSMA (the UN multidimensional integrated stabilization mission in Mali) we have one of the largest contingents - more than 1,200 military personnel," the minister said.

According to him, Russia has extensive experience in this area.

"Lavrov promised that the relevant Russian service would help Chad train this contingent. Of course, we need such training," Zan Sherif noted.

The minister specified that this training was planned to be held in Russia, while the invitation of Russian instructors to Chad was not on the agenda of the negotiations.
