China has rejected Trump’s nuclear deal

06 May 2019

China will not take part in negotiations on a trilateral nuclear deal. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Geng Shuang has announced about it, commenting on the initiative of US President Donald Trump to conclude a tripartite nuclear deal with Russia and China.

Shuang has underlined that China’s nuclear arsenal is “at the lowest level of necessary national security and incompatible with the nuclear arsenals of the United States and Russia,” and they must “in accordance with international consensus fully comply with their special obligations on nuclear disarmament and bear the primary a responsibility".

Previously, Trump noted that he would like China to become part of a future US-Russia nuclear deal.
