EAEU Seeks Close Dialogue with BRICS for Mutual Benefits

05 February

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is keen on fostering a close dialogue with the BRICS nations in areas of shared interest, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin told TASS.

"Cooperation with BRICS appears to be a highly promising and interesting area of the EAEU's international agenda. The Union is eager to engage in dialogue with BRICS in areas of mutual interest, such as trade regulation, the development of digital trade, the transport and logistics industry, and more," Pankin stated.

He emphasized that the EAEU has much to offer and learn from its BRICS counterparts, as well as the opportunity to incorporate their experiences into its own development.

Pankin also highlighted the EAEU's strong relationship with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), stating that the EAEU has a memorandum on deepening cooperation with the CIS Executive Committee and a plan of measures for its implementation until 2025. He noted that representatives of CIS member states not affiliated with the EAEU have frequently attended EAEU events as guest honorees over the past year.

The Deputy foreign minister expressed confidence that Russia's presidency in 2024 within the CIS and BRICS will bolster cooperation between these associations and the EAEU.

The EAEU is an international economic integration organization consisting of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, with Cuba, Moldova, and Uzbekistan holding observer status.
