The Egyptian authorities for the first time have developed rules for photo and video on the streets, reported the press service of the local Ministry of tourism.
Thus, Western bloggers visiting the country recently told about the ban on filming on the streets and in public places, at least one of them had their equipment confiscated. It is noted that an attempt to photograph key sites, such as Tahrir Square in Cairo, may also attract the attention of the police, who sometimes require deleting images from the phone.
According to the new rules, shooting with photo and video cameras requires a special permit in the case of professional lighting equipment or one that involves blocking the road.
"(The person taking pictures. - Ed.) fully agrees not to shoot or distribute images or videos that may in some way defame Egypt, also agrees not to shoot children, and citizens - only after obtaining their written consent," the statement reads.
It is specified, that taking pictures in museums and on historical objects on mobile phones and personal cameras is possible only without using a flash. At the same time, journalists, filmmakers and other authors of commercial shootings should obtain permission in advance.
