EgyptAir resumes its flights between Cairo and Moscow from April 15

12 April 2022

Egyptian national carrier EgyptAir announced on Tuesday it is resuming flights from Cairo to Moscow and back from April 15.

"EgyptAir is resuming flights to Moscow on a daily basis with Boeing (Boeing 737-800) from April 15," the company said in a released statement. Passengers with reservations for earlier dates are requested to contact the customer service. The company also recalls the need to comply with all sanitary regulations in connection with the coronavirus pandemic and to provide a negative PCR test at the Egyptian border, made 48 hours before departure.

The Egyptian air carrier cancelled all flights to Moscow due to problems with flight insurance in early March. The company explained then that the flights were suspended "due to the need to renegotiate insurance contracts and the refusal of some European parties to insure flights to and from Moscow against the background of the events around Ukraine and European sanctions against Russia". Later, it was decided that the Ministry of Finance of Egypt would take over the insurance of these flights. The agency's request to this effect was approved by the House of Representatives (the lower house of parliament) of the country.

Initially it was planned that the company would start implementing the flight program from April 9, but during the last three days the already announced flights were cancelled. The time of departure from Cairo remains the same - 09:30 a.m. local time (10:30 a.m. Moscow time). Meanwhile, the flight time, which used to take about four hours, has now increased to about five and a half hours. The planes will arrive in Moscow at 15:55 Moscow time, and fly back to the Egyptian capital at 16:55 Moscow time.

On March 25 Aeroflot company announced that starting from April 7 it would launch daily international direct scheduled flights from Sochi with Russian SSJ 100 aircraft to Egypt as well as to some other foreign destinations.
