Eight military personnel lost their lives in a terrorist attack carried out by militants from the extremist organization "Islamic State" (IS, banned in Russia) in the eastern Syrian province of Hama. According to reports from the Kurdish Firat news agency on Monday, the attack targeted an army truck near the Tuwaynan gas well, situated in the outskirts of Salamiyah, approximately 213 kilometers from Damascus.
The assailants targeted the army vehicle, resulting in the death of eight servicemen. While there are reports of wounded individuals, the exact number is yet to be specified, and those injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
In recent times, the east of Syria has witnessed violence perpetrated by terrorists, leading to the deaths of 139 Syrians, with most of the victims being civilians, as reported by Al Hadath TV.
To combat the terrorist threat, the Armed Forces of the Arab Republic have deployed special forces to the eastern regions. These forces are currently engaged in an operation to dismantle IS bases in the Badiya desert. Air support from helicopters is being provided to the ground forces in their efforts to combat terrorism in the region.
