Expert explained the West's negative attitude towards the Sputnik V vaccine

11 December 2020

Military expert Igor Korotchenko told RIA Novosti that there was a link between Western attempts to discredit the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine and NATO countries' military efforts to contain Russia.

Earlier, Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov said that funds had been allocated abroad to discredit the Russian Sputnik V vaccine and warned of the imminent publications of "a series of pseudo-analytical 'investigations' and false testimonies by 'witnesses' on the alleged 'danger' of the Russian vaccine or the mass 'refusals' to vaccinate."

The expert called the creation of the vaccine a matter of great political and national security. Overall, according to Korotchenko, the information campaign against the Sputnik V is running in parallel with "Western military efforts to contain Russia."
"It is discrediting the Russian vaccine in order to make it more difficult to enter the international market. And dozens of states are interested in it... The vaccine issue, these subversive efforts, they lie on a military background, so this is a complex policy of counteraction to the Russian Federation by NATO countries, first of all - the United States," the expert said.
