Farit Mukhametshin noted the contribution of Mintimer Shaimiev in strengthening Russia's relations with the Islamic world

The first President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, one of the founders of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia-Islamic world", has done a lot to strengthen Russia's relations with Muslim countries, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Farit Mukhametshin said this today, speaking at the V annual meeting of the GSV.


Mintimer Shaimiev, according to him, is personally very highly esteemed in the Islamic world, and the main evidence of this was winning the King Faisal International Prize Award in 2007 in Saudi Arabia, which is called the "Nobel prize of the Muslim world", for his contribution to the noble cause of the ideas of tolerance, spiritual, national and religious revival.


The formation of the GSV, as Mukhametshin noted, took place with the active participation of Shaimiev, who tried to actively establish ties with foreign, as well as Muslim, countries. Tatarstan State Councilor continues to work in this direction, and in 2018 he received the highest state award of the Russian Federation "Hero of Labor medal".


Today, the V annual meeting of the Group of Strategic Vision (GSV) "Russia-Islamic world" has started its work in Ufa.    The main topic of discussion is " Interfaith harmony: the experience of Russia and member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)".
