Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein held bilateral telephone talks, the press service of the Iranian MFA reported on Monday.
"The Iranian and Iraqi foreign ministers discussed a number of issues of mutual interest in the field of bilateral relations as well as regional problems, including Tehran-Riyadh talks," the report said. It is also noted that Hossein Amir Abdollahian "praised Iraq's desire and constructive role in promoting regional dialogue and strengthening stability."
Throughout 2021 and 2022, Tehran and Riyadh negotiated the possibility of normalizing relations, and five meetings were held in Baghdad. The last round was held in April this year.
