Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif. The meeting is tentatively scheduled for December 30, official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told a briefing.
According to her, the heads of diplomacy of the two countries will discuss the situation in the Persian Gulf and around the Iranian nuclear deal, as well as the settlement in Syria.
Earlier this week, Sergey Lavrov said that by exerting unprecedented pressure on Iran, the United States is grossly violating the Charter of The United Nations.
In 2015, the UN Security Council adopted 2231 resolution, which approved a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran, and confirmed that the signing of the document marked a fundamental shift in the consideration of the Iranian nuclear issue.
The agreement called for the lifting of sanctions in exchange for limiting Iran's nuclear program. However, in 2018 the United States unilaterally announced its withdrawal from the deal and reinstating all pre-signed sanctions against Iran.
