Russia has called for collective efforts to counter terrorism after the terrorist attack in Vienna.

"This is a topic that Russia has been raising and is raising for many years, namely, joining efforts in the fight against the terrorist threat," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Russia 24 TV channel.

She recalled that the Russian side spoke about it "many times at the UN, SC, GA, spoke at international forums, spoke at the highest level". Zakharova added that Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about it, "often this topic was sounded in the speech of the Russian Foreign Minister, representatives of our government and competent authorities".

"We proceed from the premise that this problem should be treated collectively, we should look for collective ways out, and only in this format is it possible to achieve the result of the most effective, the very thing that everyone expects, namely, the uncompromising fight against international terrorism," she concluded.

Zakharova stressed that it is too early to draw conclusions as to why Vienna was chosen as an attack target. "I think that no primary and superficial judgments are inappropriate here, it is necessary to investigate, which is what the competent authorities of Austria are doing now," - said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

On Monday, a series of attacks with the shooting were carried out in the center of Vienna, and one of the objects of attack, according to media reports, was a synagogue. Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said that the incident was a terrorist act. Four people were killed. According to law enforcement, at least one of the attackers was killed, and at least one more is being looked for.
