Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan answers questions on situation in Ukraine

Uzbekistan in its foreign policy is invariably committed to the national interests, as well as the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states. This was reported on Friday by the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan in response to citizens' requests for clarification of certain questions on the situation around Ukraine.


"The Republic of Uzbekistan is invariably committed in the implementation of its foreign policy to national interests, fundamental principles, including openness, equality, respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in the internal affairs of other states," the statement said.


The press service of the MFA also noted that "Uzbekistan stands for the earliest formation of conditions for the settlement of the current situation by political and diplomatic means in accordance with the norms of international law."


"With regard to the increasing number of citizens of the Russian Federation arriving in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, we note that the issue of their stay in our country is regulated by Uzbek legislation, bilateral and multilateral legal acts, including their possible extradition," the press service added. At the same time, the foreign ministry clarified that "the citizens of foreign countries who have not committed an offense are not subject to forced deportation."
