Kazakhstan's National Security Committee (KNB) has detained four citizens suspected of promoting terrorist ideologies. This was reported by the committee's press service.

"On June 26, in the Turkistan region, the National Security Committee, in coordination with the prosecutor's office and in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, detained four Kazakh citizens on suspicion of terrorism propaganda. Preliminary data suggests that one of the suspects had lived abroad for an extended period, where he was likely exposed to radical religious ideology," the statement read.

During the searches, religious literature and other material evidence were seized. A criminal case has been initiated.
