Ceasefire agreements between the Palestinian movement Hamas and Israel in the Gaza Strip have come into effect, as reported by the Al Hadath TV channel. The four-day truce, brokered by Qatar, commenced at 08:00 Moscow time, with live footage from Gaza City displaying a calm situation.
The Times of Israel also confirmed the humanitarian truce, stating it began at the same time.
The Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, stated that Israeli troops would maintain positions inside Gaza during the pause to release some hostages, using the time to plan future stages of the operation. Meanwhile, Ali Abu Shahin of the "Islamic Jihad" emphasized the group's intention to stay vigilant and assess Israeli compliance, indicating that the extension or creation of new humanitarian pauses hinges on Israeli behavior.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari disclosed that the initial group of hostages, comprising 13 women and children, would be released on November 24 at 17:00 Moscow time. CNN reported that Israel plans to release 39 Palestinian prisoners on the same day. Humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza, initiated after the truce, will utilize the Rafah crossing on the Egypt border.
