Gaza Health Ministry Accuses Israel of Attacking People Waiting for Humanitarian Aid

15 March

The Gaza Health Ministry has accused the Israeli military of attacking Palestinians in the Gaza Strip who were waiting for the distribution of humanitarian aid in an area of the enclave's administrative center. The attack killed 20 Palestinians and injured 155, according to the ministry.

"As a result of the Israeli military attack on a group of citizens waiting for the distribution of humanitarian aid at the Al-Kuwait junction on the Salah al-Din highway, at least 20 people were killed and at least 155 were injured," the ministry stated in a statement published on its official Telegram channel. The health ministry warned that the number of casualties could still rise, as ambulance crews are not yet able to reach some of the injured and dead to take them to the hospital.

The first such attack happened in February 29 in the An-Nablusi neighborhood of Gaza City, where at least 112 people were killed and 760 others were injured.

The Middle East situation escalated after the infiltration of Hamas fighters from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023. Israel began retaliatory strikes against the Palestinian enclave and parts of Lebanon and Syria. On December 1, the Israeli army accused Hamas of violating the truce that had been in effect since November 24 and announced that it would resume fighting in the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian authorities held the United States responsible for the renewed Israeli aggression.
