The Palestinian movement Hamas is ready for a "complete compromise" regarding the issue of a prisoner exchange with Israel. This statement was made by Ghazi Hamad, a representative of the movement's leadership, in an interview with NBC News.
"We want these people to go home. And, also, we want our prisoners now to go home. So I think we are ready now to have complete compromise, complete a deal, in order to receive all the hostages, either military or civilians," he emphasized.
The TV channel suggests that Israel is "unlikely to accept" such a proposal. Regarding the broader context of the conflict, Hamad emphasized that their group would persist in resisting the occupation, citing their legal right to do so in accordance with international law. Hamad also highlighted the cessation of Israeli aggression as a primary condition for advancing negotiations, including discussions on a potential prisoner exchange.
In reference to the October 7 attack on Israel, a Hamas spokesman stated that the fighters did not intend to harm civilians. He explained, "Within our religion in Islam, it is prohibited to harm or to kill any civilians. But what happened maybe in the first day that, that when people (fighters - TASS) went inside, and there is a wide area, there’s people, there’s some complication there."
