Hamas Regards European Recognition of Palestine as a "Turning Point"

22 May

The recent acknowledgment of Palestine as an independent state by three European nations - Ireland, Spain, and Norway - marks a significant "turning point" in the international stance on the Palestinian cause, according to Bassem Naim, a member of Hamas' politburo.

"We view this as a turning point in the global stance regarding the Palestinian issue," Naim stated to Agence France-Presse. He attributed this development to the "courageous resistance" of Palestinians and their enduring perseverance, which, he believes, prompted these European countries to make this decision.

Earlier, the governments of Ireland, Spain, and Norway had announced their respective decisions to formally recognize Palestine as an independent state.
