Hamas States Israel's Rejection of Proposals for a New Truce

Khalil al-Hayya, a member of the politburo of the Palestinian Hams movement, stated in an interview with Al Jazeera that the Israeli authorities have rejected several proposals aimed at concluding a new truce.

"The occupier (Israel - TASS note) has rejected several proposals and initiatives aimed at establishing a new truce for the release of our prisoners, in exchange for the release of their captives," he stated. The politburo member highlighted that Israel has exhibited a "determination to resume committing crimes" instead.

"We presented proposals for the release of our elderly prisoners in our custody in exchange for the release of our elderly prisoners held in occupation prisons, but the Zionist occupier rejected the proposal," he elaborated. Al-Hayya also noted that Israel declined to accept the bodies of its citizens who were held captive by Hamas and killed during the bombardment of the Gaza Strip.

"The occupier's dismissal of all proposals for a new truce is a clear indication that it is gearing up to resume committing crimes in the Gaza Strip. Our people and our resistance won't welcome the resumption of Israeli aggression with roses or olive branches but will confront it with unwavering determination," al-Hayya asserted. "We conveyed to the mediators our readiness to negotiate the release of the captured civilians in our possession to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire," he emphasized.

On the morning of December 1, the Israel Defense Forces accused the Palestinian Hamas movement of violating the ceasefire and announced the resumption of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.
