The XXXI meeting of the Council of Heads of State Information Agencies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS Inform Council) is set to take place in Baku on Friday. Participants will deliberate on avenues for further cooperation during the Russian Federation's presidency in the CIS, alongside addressing matters pertinent to professional collaboration in preparation for the 80th anniversary celebration of Victory in the Great Patriotic War next year.
Organizers highlight that the meeting will explore cooperative efforts in covering topics related to bolstering the CIS as an integration bloc, fostering economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties within the Commonwealth. They stress the significance of providing information support for interstate programs and projects aimed at advancing connections in culture, science, youth exchanges, tourism, and sports.
The agenda also encompasses discussions on preparations for the 80th anniversary celebration of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in 2025. Participants will delve into experiences in preparing projects aimed at preserving the historical truth regarding the Soviet people's struggle against fascism. Additionally, joint initiatives for commemorating the shared Great Victory, collaboration with interstate structures and regional organizations, and the development of journalistic exchange programs and professional courses will be explored.
Established in 1995, the CIS Inform Council comprises heads of state news services from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, and Tajikistan. TASS Director General Andrei Kondrashov leads the Council, which is dedicated to fostering interaction and cooperation among CIS countries in the information sphere. Its mission is to create conducive environments for the seamless dissemination of information, facilitate effective exchange of professional expertise, and reinforce media partnerships.
