Houthi Forces Strike Tel Aviv with Hypersonic Ballistic Missiles

19 December

The Houthi movement “Ansar Allah” from Yemen has launched attacks on Israeli military targets near Tel Aviv, according to a statement by Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Houthi-formed armed forces.

“The missile forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces conducted a military operation, striking two critical Israeli military sites in the occupied Jaffa (Tel Aviv) area with two 'Palestine-2' hypersonic ballistic missiles. The operation successfully achieved its objectives,” Saree announced on the Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV channel.

He stated that the missile strike on Tel Aviv was a direct response to Israeli aggression in Yemen. “This operation coincided with Israeli attacks on civilian facilities in Sanaa and the Hodeidah province. Our response was natural and justified,” Saree added.

Earlier on Thursday morning, Israel launched a large-scale attack on Houthi targets in Yemen. This followed a report from the Israeli military about intercepting a missile launched from Yemen. According to Al Masirah, the Israeli airstrikes killed at least nine people.

Following the escalation in Gaza, Ansar Allah warned that it would target Israel and block ships linked to the country from passing through the Red Sea and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait until military operations in Gaza ceased. Since November of last year, the Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

In response to Houthi actions, the US announced the formation of an international coalition and launched Operation Prosperity Guardian to secure navigation and protect ships in the Red Sea. Subsequently, US and British armed forces have been regularly striking Houthi military installations across various provinces in Yemen.
