In 2018, the security services of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries detained more than 600 members of international terrorist and religious extremist organizations, the SCO the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure (RATS) Executive Committee Director Dzhumakhon Giyosov said.
"As a result of the active exchange of information on the activities of international terrorist organizations and affiliated structures, the competent authorities of the parties detained more than 600 members of international terrorist and religious extremist organizations in 2018," he said.
According to RATS, last year more than 360 terrorist attacks were suppressed at the planning stage, more than 170 improvised explosive devices were seized, access to 165 thousand Internet resources containing terrorist and extremist content was limited in the SCO countries.
The SCO is an international organization founded in 2001 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. On June 9, 2017, the leaders of the SCO member states signed a decision to admit India and Pakistan to the organization.
