Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand have officially become partner countries of BRICS. The announcement was made by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin during a joint session of APEC foreign and trade ministers. The text of his remarks was published on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website.
"The BRICS Summit in Kazan showcased the global majority’s commitment to establishing a fair world order, reforming international institutions, and fostering equitable economic relations," Pankin stated. "A substantial package of agreements has been finalized in key areas, including trade, investment, artificial intelligence, energy and climate, and logistics. Our APEC colleagues—Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand—have joined as partners of the bloc."
