Indonesia is set to resume operations of its tourism office in Russia, which was suspended due to the pandemic, Indonesian Ambassador to Russia, Jose Antonio Morato Tavares to TASS.
"We now have a direct flight—Aeroflot operates between Moscow and Bali. With the increasing number of tourists on both sides, I believe these direct flights will significantly help. Reopening the tourism office in Russia is a logical step," he stated.
In late August, Aeroflot announced that it would launch direct flights from Moscow to Denpasar, Bali, starting September 17.
The flow of Russian tourists to Indonesia has always been consistently high, with over 100,000 visiting annually. According to Nikita Kondratyev, Director of the Department for Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects at Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development, the introduction of direct flights could increase tourist numbers by at least 1.5 times.
