The International Forum titled "Traditional Values of the Peoples of the East and the Modern World" has commenced in Dushanbe at the Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University (RTSU). The event is attended by scholars, diplomats from Russia, Turkey, and Tajikistan, along with representatives from other states' embassies in Dushanbe.
Ramazan Abdulatipov, a professor at the Financial University under the Government of Russia, former head of Dagestan, and former Russian presidential envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, expressed gratitude to President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan and Tajik friends for their efforts in preserving traditional culture. He emphasized the importance of continuing this work during a press briefing prior to the forum's opening.
Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Mukhriddin highlighted the Central Asian countries' careful attitude towards national customs and traditions in his greeting to the forum participants. He expressed confidence that the forum would facilitate the exploration of new avenues for expanding intercultural dialogue among Eastern civilizations.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Russian Education Minister Sergey Kravtsov, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov, and Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov conveyed their greetings to the forum participants, which were read out during the opening ceremony. President of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Kobiljon Khushvakhtzoda also delivered a greeting and a report.
As part of the forum, the Center for Russian Diplomacy, named after former Russian Foreign Minister and former head of government Yevgeny Primakov, was inaugurated at RTSU. Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Semyon Grigoriev and Rector of the university Mashrab Faizullo participated in the center's opening ceremony. The center's mission is to preserve and develop Primakov's intellectual legacy and promote the image of Russian diplomacy at the interstate level.
The forum, scheduled from April 15 to 16, will conclude with the adoption of a declaration.
