Iranian Foreign Minister Hosein Amir Abdollahian stated that the possibility of opening other fronts of battle against Israel remains viable.
"In light of the ongoing aggression and war crimes committed by Israel against Palestinians, as well as the blockade of Gaza, the possibility of opening other fronts against the Jewish state exists," emphasized the minister in comments to Al Mayadeen TV upon his arrival in Beirut. He stated that Islamic states "should not tolerate the crimes that Israel is committing," and he condemned Israel's actions as war crimes, particularly highlighting the deprivation of civilians of water and electricity and the continuous bombardment of residential areas in Gaza.
Abdollahian further emphasized that Iran "continues to provide political and informational support to the Palestinian resistance" and underlined that there is "coordination between Iran and Saudi Arabia as part of a common strategy to support Palestine."
The Iranian foreign minister made a stopover in Beirut on his way to Damascus, where he will head on Friday by car on a highway through a mountain pass. Prior to this, he visited Baghdad and was received by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani. During the talks, both sides called for an end to Israeli air raids and the lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip.
On October 12, during a press conference in Tel Aviv, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, when asked about the United States potentially activating its military capabilities in the region in the event of a Hezbollah attack on Israel from the north and the opening of a second front, stated that the United States authorities would not allow such a situation. He clarified that "President Biden has made it clear that no one, whether state or non-state actors, should try to take advantage of this moment."
