Iran Not Planning to Change Policy Towards Russia, Says Top Official

12 September

Iran's newly elected President Masoud Pesezhkian has no intention of altering the country's policy toward Russia, which was established under his predecessor, Ebrahim Raisi. This was confirmed by Ali Akbar Ahmadian, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“President Pesezhkian has no plans to change the approach toward Russia that was developed under the previous president. I have spoken with him several times, and he remains committed to maintaining and further strengthening these relations,” Ahmadian assured. He also conveyed warm regards and best wishes from President Pesezhkian and Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to President Putin.

On September 7, Iran's Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, confirmed that President Pesezhkian will attend the BRICS summit in Kazan this October, where he is scheduled to meet with Putin.
