Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has asserted that the assassination of Hamas political bureau head Ismail Haniyeh could not have occurred without the involvement of US intelligence. This statement was made during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
“In this horrific crime, the role of the United States as a strategic ally and primary supporter of the Israeli regime in the region cannot be ignored. This act could not have been carried out without Washington's authorization and support from US intelligence agencies,” Iravani stated.
He called for immediate action from the Security Council to hold Israel accountable, advocating for sanctions and other necessary measures. “This regime must not be allowed to evade responsibility and consequences for its actions,” he emphasized.
Iravani also noted that Russia had proposed a press statement to the Security Council condemning the assassination of Haniyeh in Tehran. However, the resolution was blocked by Britain, the United States, and France.
