A delegation from Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council visited the Moscow City Court to learn about the digital document management system of Russia’s judicial system, according to the court’s press service.
“On October 10, 2024, the Chairman of the Moscow City Court, Mikhail Ptisyn, met with an official delegation from Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council, led by its chairman, Faiq Zidan. Ptisyn provided analytical and statistical information on the activities of Moscow courts. The Iraqi delegation was impressed by the digital advancements of the Russian judicial system,” the press service reported. The delegation was introduced to the system that allows filing lawsuits with the Moscow City Court and district courts through the “Gosuslugi” portal and “My Documents” offices.
The visitors were also shown a special digital system used by judges during proceedings. This system has extensive functionality, enabling judges to take notes during hearings, review case materials, and even display evidence to jurors in real time.
Zidan expressed particular admiration for the robes worn by female Russian judges. “I’ve been to many courts around the world, but there is one detail I’d like to highlight: the uniform for all judges. We will consider implementing something similar. It is a beautiful and important symbol,” Zidan said, as quoted by the press service.
The Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq is an independent judicial body that interprets the constitution and determines the constitutionality of the country’s laws and regulations. It also serves as the highest appellate court.
