Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said he did not use force during clashes between police and protesters in the country so as not to make the situation worse.
"I didn't use force against the attackers on the White House (parliament and presidential administration building) so as not to risk human lives," Jeenbekov said in an address to the people published by his press service. According to the president, some of his advisers offered to "calm the protesters by force," but he did not take this step.
According to Jeenbekov, he also did not allow his supporters to go to the confrontation with the protesters because it was "very dangerous" and could lead to an escalation of the confrontation.
The President of Kyrgyzstan called on all participants of social and political processes taking place in the republic to return to the legal field.
"Once again I call on those who take to the streets, their organizers and political leaders to return to the legal field," the statement reads.
In his opinion, in the situation that has arisen in the country, the "high civil position" is shown by the young generation of the republic, which voluntarily eliminates the consequences of clashes between demonstrators and police in the city, as well as united in public squads to prevent pogroms and looting.
"Thank you for your work," Jeenbekov addressed the youth, who, in his opinion, proved that they "care about Kyrgyzstan" and not "power or career.
