Jeenbekov: the situation with coronavirus in Kyrgyzstan was stabilized thanks to Russia

President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the epidemic situation in the Republic was stabilized thanks to the help of the Russian Federation.


"Thanks to you, we managed to stabilize the epidemic situation in the country," he said on Monday, adding that he was also grateful to Russia for the support of Kyrgyz citizens who live in Russia.


The Kyrgyz leader also noted the role of Vladimir Putin in the consistent political and economic support that the Russian Federation provides to Kyrgyzstan. "This is your personal merit. You are a sincere and great friend of Kyrgyzstan. <...> Kyrgyzstan always feels the strong shoulder of Russia as a true friend, ally, and strategic partner, especially in this difficult time," he added.


The President of Kyrgyzstan also stressed that the $100 million loan allocated by the Eurasian development fund has become a "very significant support" for the country's economy.


Jeenbekov also congratulated Putin on registering the coronavirus vaccine and expressed hope that it would be available to Kyrgyz citizens. "I congratulate you once again on the first registration of the coronavirus vaccine. All of humanity was waiting for this day  <...> We were very happy. And we hope that the Russian vaccine will be publicly available to our citizens of Kyrgyzstan," he said.


Earlier, during a meeting of the Russian-Kyrgyz intergovernmental commission, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said that Russia is ready to supply a coronavirus vaccine to Kyrgyzstan if the Kyrgyz side is interested. In turn, Jeenbekov reported that representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Russia are negotiating the supply of vaccines to the Republic.
