Joint exercises of Russian and Uzbek peacekeepers started near the border with Afghanistan

Joint Russian-Uzbekistani exercises, where the countries will work out tasks to ensure territorial integrity on the border with Afghanistan, have begun at the Termez mountain range located in the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan. This was reported to journalists by the press service of the Central Military District (CMD).


"In their welcoming remarks, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Central Military District, Major General Nikolai Tereschenko, and Deputy Defense Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan for combat training, Colonel Kadyr Tursunov, wished the servicemen successful interaction during the execution of training and combat tasks, and expressed confidence that the joint exercise would further strengthen bilateral Russian-Uzbek cooperation," the message read.


The press service specified that about 1.5 thousand servicemen of Russian and Uzbek Armed Forces will take part in the exercises, which will last for five days. Peacekeepers and special forces of the Central Military District were flown from Samara by military transport aircraft Il-76. The Russian servicemen will perform tasks using armored vehicles provided by the host country.
