Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi has called upon the United Nations Security Council to pass a resolution for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, citing humanitarian imperatives. Speaking to reporters after a meeting of EU foreign ministers with their Arab counterparts in Brussels, al-Safadi emphasized the urgent need for intervention.
"Israel, by continuing violence in the Strip, is defying international legitimacy, jeopardizing peace and security in the Middle East, so the UN Security Council must stop war crimes and prevent a humanitarian catastrophe," stated the deputy prime minister.
Al-Safadi highlighted the EU's pivotal role as the main partner of Arab states in ongoing efforts to curb the bloodshed and facilitate a political settlement. He stressed that achieving the national rights of the Palestinian people is essential for establishing peace in the Middle East, asserting that Israel's security hinges on acknowledging these rights.
