The Afghan sides supported the call of the enlarged "troika" (the Russian Federation, the United States, China and Pakistan) for peace in Afghanistan. This was said to journalists on Thursday by Zamir Kabulov, the Russian President's Special Representative for Afghanistan and Director of the Second Asian Department of the Foreign Ministry, following a meeting of the expanded "troika" in Moscow.

"Serious conversations have taken place with all Afghan parties, the keynote of which is that the Afghan parties understand and are ready to negotiate peace in Afghanistan," he said. Kabulov also said Afghan delegations would hold bilateral and trilateral meetings in Moscow.

The meeting of the enlarged "troika" (Russia, the United States, China and Pakistan) on the settlement of the conflict in Afghanistan at the level of special envoys was held in Moscow on Thursday. A joint statement was issued based on the results of the meeting. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Afghan authorities and the Taliban (banned in Russia), as well as Qatar and Turkey.
