Kalashnikov Group (part of the Rostec State Corporation) will hold its first presentation of its newest 5.56 mm AK-19 assault rifle abroad, Kalashnikov's press service told reporters on Monday.
"The world premiere of AK-19 will take place at the largest arms exhibition of the Middle East, IDEX 2021, which will be held from February 21 to 25 in the capital of the United Arab Emirates Abu Dhabi," the press service informed.
According to GC, AK-19 has already generated interest among customers from the Middle East countries who use 5.56x45 mm cartridge as standard ammunition. "In hot, humid climates and dusty conditions, AK-19 will provide effective all-day use, reliable operation and unpretentious maintenance," the statement reads.
"AK-19 uses the 5.56x45 mm cartridge adopted by NATO and widely used in the world. Thus, our newest assault rifle is fully oriented to the foreign market. Presenting AK-19 at the largest international armament exhibition IDEX, we are sure in the great interest in it on the part of foreign customers, the first applications from whom we are already receiving," the press service quotes the words of the general director of the group, Dmitry Tarasov.
The AK-19 rifle is based on AK-12 adopted by the Russian Armed Forces in 2018. The new sample is equipped with Picatinny bars, a telescopic buttstock of the original design, a new diopter sight and a quick-release silenced and flameless firing device.
The AK-19 rifle was first shown at the Army-2020 International Military-Technical Forum.
